Greetings Sisters and Brothers in Christ: I like many of you woke up Sunday morning with a feeling of incompleteness. That is, something is missing. What is missing is gathering with you my sisters and brothers in Christ to worship and praise a loving, faithful, and merciful God.
In response to this feeling of incompleteness, I am working with the leadership of our congregation to find a way to use the technology available to us to begin a safe electronic way to gather.
We are in an uncertain time that causes us to live with high anxiety and fear the unknown.
A Seminary friend reminded me of the words of one of our professors The Rev. Dr. Eric Gritsch. I recall considering my limitations of memory the good Dr. saying: In times of trouble and uncertainty we should gather where the church bell rings. I understand that to mean in such times we should gather with the faithful. Those that believe in the God of Creation and the Salvation that comes to us in and through the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Those that lift each other out of the darkness into the light of Christ through faithful devotion and sharing the love of Christ.
In other words, we are called in faith to care and uplift each other in such troubled times.
Physically gathering at this time is difficult, however, we will find a way. In the meantime I suggest we call each other, touch base to reassure our sisters and brothers in Christ we are not alone. If you need assistance, please ask for help. And, if you can help call others and find ways to help each other. And, I suggest you face time so we can feel a little more connected. If you need to talk to me for any reason please call me, face time, at 610-360-6360. Of course, if you would rather speak to Theo he is always ready to talk to you.
Considering I write to you on Sunday, I will share a bit of worship with you: The daily prayer for the 4th Sunday in Lent.
The Lord be with you.
And also, with you.
Let us pray:
Bend your ear to our prayers, Lord Christ, and come among us. By your gracious life and death for us, bring light into the darkness of our hearts, and anoint us with your Spirit, for you live and reign with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, the peace of the Lord be with you always.
Pastor Rich and Theo.
